Rigid Mailer FAQs
A rigid mailer is the lovechild of a mailing box and a flexible mailer. Designed so they can pack flat and inconspicuous, or expanded into a box-like shape, while still protecting your fragiles.
These mailers can be shipped like any other Ecomailer, Padded Mailer or the like! No special treatment here. Bonus: The small and medium sizes can be used as AusPost Large Letters without the gusset expanded.
Our rigid mailers are 100% kerbside recyclable.
Now this depends on the size. Sending something small or flat? Our hard mailers or padded mailing bags will do just the trick. If your item is a bulkier or funnier shape, check out our Hex Wrap and Mailing Boxes.
Our rigid mailers have an expandable gusset on the sides, meaning they can pop up and out to fit bulkier items, like War and Peace.
What our rigid mailer has going for it is that aggressive corner protection. The expandable gusset angles outwards to ward off any bumps, knocks or package thieves. Your items are safe inside their cardboard fortress.
Books, small garments, or anything fragile - china, jewellery, egos. If it fits, it's ridgy didge.
Rigid Mailers With Expandable Edges
400gsm matte paper board with hard corners, expandable edges and an easy-open tear strip. FSC certified, made from recycled material, and tough enough for prints, books and fragiles.
Sizes
Small 235×175mm, Medium 350×250mm and Large 450×330mm. Small suits A5 prints and jewellery; Medium is the A4 workhorse; Large handles A3 artwork and larger books. Quantities from 25 up to 1000.
What "rigid" buys you
400gsm board doesn't bend in a mail bag, so prints, photos and documents arrive flat. A padded mailer protects against impact; a rigid mailer protects against being folded, which is a different problem.
Expandable edges
The sides expand, so the same rigid mailer takes a single print or a stack of them. You're not buying three sizes to cover one product range.
Rigid mailer or rigid envelope?
Same thing, different word. If you're searching for rigid envelopes, these are what you want — board rather than paper, with hard corners.
Book mailers, kraft mailers, rigid cardboard mailers
All the same product. Books and printed matter are the most common thing that goes in these — the board stops corners getting crushed and stops the whole thing bending in a mail bag. The kraft board finish is what people mean by kraft mailers.
Does it meet Australia Post sizing?
All three sizes post through Australia Post as standard parcels. The Small in particular fits comfortably within large-letter dimensions for most contents — worth checking against your item's thickness.
Easy-open strip
A tear strip, so your customer isn't attacking it with scissors and risking the thing inside. Small detail, noticeable at the other end.
The eco bit
Recycled material, FSC certified, and kerbside recyclable as paper board. No plastic window, no poly lining to strip out.
