Printer FAQs
A thermal printer uses heat instead of ink to print. Our Ecolabels are embedded with a heat-sensitive material that darkens as it heats up. Ever had a sunglasses tan? Think of it like the sun thermal printing on your face.
Yep, we're all slaves to Steve Jobs here. We'll even email you an easy peasy setup guide to get you started.
Nope! Because of the whole thermal printing thing, the TSC Thermal Printer doesn't use ink. You'll never have to replace it again! Say goodbye to exxy Officeworks trips.
Thermal labels are heat sensitive, so they'll slowly fade when exposed to direct sunlight or heat. But! Do not fear! Even after 3 months in the sun, they'll still scan. We use them for all our parcels, and we've found we can still scan them after 6 months. They'd have to sunbathe for an absurd amount of time to be unreadable.
So the long and short of it is, if you're printing something like a barcode that won't be in direct sunlight, you can expect it to stay scannable for up to a year. Just maybe don't take the package to your sunny beach holiday in Majorca.
Thermal printers are often used by ecommerce companies as postage label printers, and pair beautifully with our compostableĀ Ecolabels. Better yet, you could give your printer a whole new lease on life and print with our colourful Customisable Ecolabels. Because our TSC thermal printer accepts a heap of different label sizes, stickers with barcodes or product information are also totally possible.
Both printers are thermal (no ink), fast, and fully compatible with any direct thermal label including our plastic-free Ecolabels. The difference comes down to what your business needs.
The TSC printer is our go-to for larger operations or businesses that need to print hundreds of labels a day. Itās a plug-in workhorse built for consistency, speed, and long-term durability.
The Bluetooth printer is perfect for small to medium businesses who want wireless freedom, easy printing from phones or tablets, and the ability to design labels and stickers directly from the app. Itās compact, quiet, and made for convenience.
Streamline your shipping with the TSC DA210 Thermal Printer from HeapsGood ā the smart, sustainable choice for Australian businesses ready to print shipping labels efficiently while reducing waste.

Why a Thermal Printer is the Sustainable Choice
Traditional printers rely on ink, toner, and disposable cartridges, not to mention excess energy. Thermal printers operate differently. Using heat-sensitive paper, direct thermal printing produces sharp, smudge-proof labels with no ink or ribbons required. That means lower maintenance, less clutter, and far fewer consumables ending up in landfills.
At HeapsGood, we believe sustainability starts with the tools you use every day. Our thermal printer is built to support eco-friendly operations, offering:

No cartridges, no mess, no waste
When paired with HeapsGood's eco label supplies, your thermal printer becomes a powerful tool in your sustainability journey. It reduces the burden on your operations while aligning with broader goals around environmental responsibility, cost reduction, and brand trust.

The Thermal Difference: Eco-Friendly Printing for Modern Brands
Here at HeapsGood, "eco-friendly" isnāt just a buzzword. Itās the whole backbone of how we tackle every shipping challenge for modern brands. If youāre cruising this page, you already know that ordinary printers and their plastic-packed supplies leave heaps to be desired (and heaps of waste, too). Thermal printers are flipping the shipping script, offering the kind of clever, planet-saving tech that feels more like the future (except you can have it stashed on your packing bench right now).
Letās get into why the thermal printer is having such a glow-up in the world of sustainable ecommerce. For starters, it cuts out pretty much every short-lived supply youād expect from traditional printing. No toner, no fiddly ink cartridges, and, crucially, no wasteful ribbons are required for most models. If youāre keen on doing the right thing for future generations, every label you stick on a parcel should be doing double duty: keeping your delivery fast and sharp, and looking after the planet by nipping single-use plastic right in the bud.
Direct thermal technology is a bona fide game changer. The magic lies in special-coated labels that react to heat. So, when your machineās print head gets cooking, it etches the label directly: no mess, no extra supplies, just neat results that stick tight and last the distance. Thermal transfer printers use a wax-resin ribbon for more rugged label jobs, but even then, clever supply choices (like carbon-neutral options or recyclable ribbons) mean youāre still making a planet-friendly call. Either way, thermal printing beats the old way hands down for waste reduction.
A lot of folks think printers are all cut from the same cloth. Not so! Industrial thermal printers are the unsung heroes in high-volume settings, chewing through bulk label rolls like a champion, but at a fraction of the ongoing waste and energy. These machines are tough, built for daily shipping chaos, and perfectly happy running on your eco-labelled stock. Meanwhile, the desktop thermal printer gives small brands a compact, nimble solution, saving space, slashing supplies, and looking slick while doing it. Got a mobile business or courier service? Mobile thermal printers pair Bluetooth wireless technology with rechargeable batteries, so you can churn out delivery labels on the move. No more scrambling for supplies at pop-up markets or outdoor gigsājust pocket-sized, eco-minded efficiency.
And because weāre all about making tech friendly, connecting your thermal printer to the rest of your setup is dead easy. Plug it in with a USB interface or pair it wirelessly. Bluetooth wireless technology means you can stay cable-free, so your workbench stays as clutter-free as your supply cupboard. Barcode scanners and label management systems integrate seamlessly, letting you whip up, print, and stick labels on the fly. For brands juggling inventory, packing, and shipping, thermal printers bring next-level management to the eco-conscious table.
Now, letās talk supplies. Readers whoāve ever tangled with mountains of printer accessories will appreciate the simplicity. Thermal printers cut that clutter by miles. No drum units, no fussy maintenance, just a reliable machine and a steady stock of eco-friendly labels. At HeapsGood, we obsess over supplies. Thatās why our printers and accessories are curated for both quality and planet care: from compostable label rolls to laser-cut printer covers sourced ethically and built to last. We even keep our packaging minimal and recyclable, so every delivery (to you or your customers) keeps the good vibes rolling.
