Thermal labels are heat sensitive, meaning they will slowly fade when exposed to direct sunlight or heat. This is one of the trade offs of the technology. The good news is that even after 3 months in sunlight they will scan and be completely legible and in our extensive testing (we use them for all our parcels) after 6 months they are still scanning and legible. We can't see them being exposed to direct sunlight for longer than this in their normal use case scenarios. When printing things like barcodes that will not be in direct sunlight you can expect our labels to stay clear and scannable for up to 1 year.
Thermal printers are used by ecommerce companies primarily to print shipping labels and pair perfectly with our compostable Ecolabels. Because our TSC printer accepts a variety of label sizes things like barcodes or product information stickers are also possible.
