To gain these certiﬁcations, the shipping mailers must break down within 90 days in commercial compost and 180 days in domestic compost conditions. After biodegradation, they must leave no harmful residues behind.

It has been hard to find a sustainable strong study bag that seals well, does not rip and our labels stick on well. These are Excellent bags to send via couriers and our products are protected.

Compostable Mailer FAQs

To compost our eco-friendly mailers at home, read this nifty disposal guide here. Plus, there's a QR code on the mailers that has instructions for your customers too!

Our bags can also break down in commercial compost. They can click here and find a composter near them, or ask their local council for a green waste bin if they haven't already got one. They also need to check that their council commercially composts Ecomailer bags, as it's done on a council-by-council basis!

Our compostable shipping mailers are made from a combination of cornstarch, PLA (vegetable-based plastic material) and PBAT (composting co-polymer). If these sound like they'd be great ingredients for a cake, they're not. But the worms love 'em.

Our mailing satchels have a 10-month shelf life.

Our Ecomailer bags are made in strict accordance with Australian standards for degradation and toxicity (AS 5180 and AS 4736), so if you're wondering if they're really compostable, then the answer is a fully certified yes. Our compostable mailers break down within 180 days in home compost, and 90 days in commercial compost. They'll be decomposed faster than Hollywood can churn out another Marvel film.
