Mailing Box FAQs
Not always. While kraft paper decomposes very quickly, it's often made from virgin materials. Our kraft mailing boxes go one step further, because they're completely made from recycled materials.
Unfortunately not at the moment, but it's something we're looking into! Feel free to get in touch with the size you're after, and we'll see what we can do.
Corrugated cardboard is the best material for shipping boxes, because the structure makes it sturdy. Our boxes are made from thick B flute corrugated cardboard, but are even better than normal ones, because they're recycled!
This depends on what you're shipping. A faux fur jacket? A mailer will do. Your grandmother's finest china? Protect it in a box so it doesn't break - and wrap it in some Hex Wrap too.
You bet. Our standard range fits Australia Post's letter and parcel categories perfectly.
We stock 220×160×80mm, 245×180×100mm, and 320×240×120mm as off-the-shelf options.
All are pre-approved dimensions. No guessing. No rejected parcels.
You can post a mailing box by itself, as long as it's got four walls, is sealed, and is very polite to the postal staff.
Pardon our French, but white boxes f*ck the planet. Their colour is achieved by using bleach, and the white boxes available in Australia currently are made of only 70% recycled content at best. Which isn't good enough for us, désolé! Read more about our stance on white boxes in our blog.
The mailing box shape we currently offer is able to be constructed by just folding and is glue-free! While we will offer more shapes in the future, we're restricted by our desire to only offer shapes that can be folded with zero to minimal glue. The glues on other boxes contain a plastic, and while they're still recyclable, we'd prefer not to be putting that into our world (or compost)!
Recyclable, not compostable. Our standard range is 100% recycled cardboard with water-based inks. It breaks down in a standard recycling bin within weeks. Compostable materials exist but cost 40% more and aren't widely composted in Australia yet. Recycled is the smarter environmental play right now. Same job. Less plastic. More sense.
The world’s largest cardboard box measured over 40 metres long and could fit five shipping containers inside it. It was built in the Netherlands in 2014, purely to win a bet.
